About Me

Hi! I’m Madison Murray (she/her), a multi-faceted, passionate creative with the goal of bringing positive change to the music industry for artists and fans alike. I think we’re at our best when we’re embracing and doing what we love, and that’s an ethos I bring to everything I’m involved in. A primary goal in my music reviews and analysis is “championing artists,” which mgk once pointed out as a standout quality of my work. I love to shine a light on both rising stars and overlooked, under-analyzed work from today’s biggest names, focused on celebrating the heart they put into their music as well as delivering pieces that fans can enjoy through a release cycle and beyond. In my educational content and ‘From Followers To Fans’ book, I strive to empower lesser-known artists to believe in their dreams and potential.

I miiiiight be your favorite musician’s favorite music blogger – I pride myself on taking the time to really sit with new releases and get excited about them as a fan would, even if it’s an artist I’m less familiar with. I’ve interviewed incredible artists like mgk (formerly Machine Gun Kelly), phem, The Warning, James McVey of The Vamps, and Sofia Carson about their work and what drives them. At the end of our call, mgk even took the time to appreciate my research and dedication in putting my questions together, which is a moment I’ll always hold onto. My work has been acknowledged by icons including Travis Barker, Meghan Trainor, Halsey, and MOD SUN, and quoted in GRAMMY FYC material for producer Adamusic.

On the promotion front, my dream is to be known as the Taydaughter of Music Marketing. Pretty ambitious, I know! But this whole music industry fantasy and hyperfixation of mine really started when I went to my first concert in 2011: a New Jersey stop on Taylor Swift’s whimsical ‘Speak Now’ Tour. Every detail felt so thoughtfully curated and alive – from the various activations for fans to take part in before heading to their seats, to the theatrical sets and production choices that really drew you into the world of the ‘Speak Now’ album. I grew up reading every lyric booklet that came with her CDs, drawing her concert outfits in my sketchbooks, and trying to piece together her interactive Easter eggs (usually failing). So much of what I’ve learned about the industry and myself has come from Taylor, and it’d be a massive honor to help artists bring even a fraction of the magic that she’s brought me to their fans.

Outside of work, I love cats, spending time with my family, drawing, reading, and collecting K-Pop photocards, especially for aespa and NMIXX. You might see some of my favorite cards pop up on my Instagram if I’ve recently written about someone I collect! I’m always open to new connections and talking about music, so feel free to reach out whether it’s just for fun or you’d like to work together.
