Entertainment & Lifestyle Writer

About Me

Hi! I'm Madison Murray (she/her), a lifelong pop culture fanatic who loves to shine a light on rising artists and overlooked, under-analyzed work from today's biggest stars. I serve as creative director of the fan-driven publication The Honey POP with a focus on spinning press and new releases into interesting stories that fans can enjoy for years to come, as well as freelancing as an entertainment and lifestyle writer with credits at Genius Korea, Young Hollywood, TREMG, and more.

I've been enamored with the music industry since I saw Taylor Swift live on the Speak Now World Tour in 2011. Thanks to her vulnerable lyrics, immersive stage design, and connection with each and every fan in that arena, that was the first time I saw music as an experience rather than just something to soundtrack a car ride. Since then, I've wanted to share my love of music with as many people as possible. Whether it's American artists like Taylor and Machine Gun Kelly or Korean artists like BLACKPINK and aespa, I'm in tune with the content that fans enjoy and offering them that content is one of my main motivations in my work.

One of my specialties is looking at the wider context of artist updates and new releases to see how they fit into their career environment, such as looking at how MGK's 'Hotel Diablo' played on the negative press he received in the years leading up to the album or how Lorde's 'Solar Power' explores the trappings of teenage fame through references to the natural world. I've gotten to talk to music superstars like Sofia Carson, SUNMI, and KAMILLE about their work, and my writing has been acknowledged by the likes of Travis Barker, Meghan Trainor, Halsey, and MOD SUN.

Outside of work, I love cats, spending time with my family, and collecting K-Pop photocards, especially for aespa and NMIXX. I'm always open to new connections and talking about music, so feel free to reach out!
